energy management: smart metering Energy Efficiency relies on accurate real-time data about your energy usage. This can be delivered through the installation of smart meters to provide automatic meter readings. This allows you to take control of your energy monitoring and usage rather than it being in the hands of others.
How does smart metering work? We install and maintain high specification smart meters for gas and electricity on site. You are assigned a dedicated Energy Efficiency Manager to work with you on monitoring readings and taking action. The smart meters send meter readings every 30 minutes to the AQ Energy datacenter. This data is used to generate accurate billing and energy efficiency reports. At the end of each month, based on the data collected via the smart meter, you are provided with a comprehensive utility efficiency management report highlighting usage abnormalities and potential wastages.Your Energy Efficiency Manager talks you through the reports and discusses with you ways in which you could look to use energy more efficiciently and reduce your costs. Your dedicated Energy Efficiency Manager then validates your utility bills with your suppliers based on the precise usage as tracked via your smart meter negotiating down on your behalf your energy costs based on evidence collected rather than on what may be estimated meter readings made by your supplier or their agent.

What does smart metering cost? The Energy Management Service costs 80p per smart meter per day for a five year contract. This cost should be more than offset by the reduction in energy bills through better management of your usage. We recommend you do not install smart meters at sites with consumption of less than £4,000 per year for gas and £3,000 a year for electricity.
What does this cost include? - The installation of electric AMR or gas data logger. - Network provider - SIM card - 5 year warranty of meter and SIM card. - 5 year maintenance inclusive of battery replacement costs. - Monthly reporting for 36 months by a dedicated Energy Efficiency Manager and for the remaining 24 months data downloads for accurate billing. - Utility bill validation - Tariff validation for electricity - Accurate billing - Access to on-line reports on usage - A health-check on installations by qualified engineers* - Free meter exchange for non-pulsed gas meters.
* Our installation engineers will carry out a free health check when the meter exchange takes place and inform the customer of any extra works that need to be carried out to bring up to standard.
