ACE Catalyst Arts Capacity Building Survey

19th September - 30th October 2012

The overall Catalyst funding programme aims to make arts organisations more sustainable, resilient and innovative by increasing their fundraising potential and attracting new money to invest in additional artistic work. It is designed to invest in organisations that are committed to making a step change in their approach to fundraising by increasing their fundraising ability and helping them to develop and explore innovative approaches to securing private giving.

Arts Quarter believes that the Catalyst Arts programme has the potential to fundamentally transform the ways in which arts organisations across England generate support from the private sector to realise Great Art for Everyone. However we all recognise that there will be many challenges to be addressed as part of this key process of change.

We are undertaking this study to start plotting this progress of change so that all Catalyst Arts: Capacity Building and Match Funding recipients, and others, can learn from the collective experiences of those who have received funding and air any issues that those funded organisations may be experiencing as they progress through the programme. The questions in our survey do not repeat any part of the programme's reporting processes, so we hope that this survey will work alongside direct reporting to the Arts Council to provide a truly comprehensive analysis.

This study is only open to those organisations in receipt of Catalyst:Arts Arts Capacity Building and Match funding and this data gathering phase will remain open until Monday 30th October.

As in all of our research projects, findings will not be attributed so we hope that organisations taking part will respond as fully and frankly as possible to the questions posed. We very much hope that as in all of our studies, organisations will be able to use findings to benchmark their own progress and reflect further as to how best to move forward with their own Catalyst implementation plans in light of wider knowledge as to how fellow Catalyst award recipients are progressing.

If your organisation has received funding from the ACE Catalyst and you would like to take part, please contact info@artsquarter.co.uk to receive an invitation.

We will be reporting on this project in mid November 2012.
