Fern Potter

Fern specialises in fundraising and development advice for the not-for-profit sector. She has over 18 years experience of developing organisations and implementing strategic frameworks for effective fundraising from all areas of private giving through her previous posts including as Head of Development with Dance Umbrella, Development Manager with George Piper Dancers (Ballet Boyz), and founding Director of essexdance (Dance Digital). She has also worked in the corporate sector as Business Development Manager with Tom Peters Company (UK).

Fern is an entrepreneurial senior manager with proven talent in leveraging funds from grantholder’s institutions and in identifying and capitalising on opportunities for partnerships with private funders, particularly: individuals, trusts and foundations, and corporates. She has devised a number of projects in partnership with businesses that not only brought arts activities into the workplace but also served as audience development initiatives.

She has excellent knowledge of grant giving policies and practices and has been providing advice to colleagues in the arts field for many years, as both a regular trainer for Arts Council England, and lecturer in Arts Management at Chichester University. Fern holds a MA in Arts Management from City University, London and a degree in Dance and Education from Rutgers University, New Jersey, USA, and is a full member of the Institute of Fundraisers.

Fern was a member of Arts Council England’s Dance Advisory Board and served as an Accreditation Board Member for the Council for Dance Education and Training. She now serves as a Trustee of ADAD.
