Joanna Ridout

Joanna has been working in senior management in mixed arts venues, touring companies, training, marketing and fundraising for 24 years. She has been freelance since 2003 and her main strengths are in organisational development and planning for small to medium scale independent performing arts organisations.

She is a skilled facilitator, working with clients to design bespoke development, offering challenges and inspiring new ways of thinking. As an experienced manager and strategist with excellent networks across the performing arts sector, Joanna can offer ideas for partnership, plus a pragmatism borne of in-depth management experience. This is combined with a genuine passion for the arts that she brings to every project.

Work has included developing training for the Independent Theatre Council, research for Arts Council, England, international export promotion with the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and UK Trade & Investment, project management with the National Skills Academy (with schools and FE Colleges across 25 performing arts venues) and a variety of development work with a wide range of independent companies, including Oily Cart Theatre, Farnham Maltings, Hoipolloi and Unicorn Theatre for Children. Board memberships including Music in Detention, The Independent Theatre Council, Proteus Theatre and Business in the Arts South bring a broad perspective of the arts industry to Joanna’s work.

Joanna is also a regular trainer with the Independent Theatre Council and an ILM-qualified Action Learning Facilitator with Action Learning Associates.
